Cervical cancer is caused by a virus. Now you can prevent it by getting vaccinated.

Do I still need screening after vaccination?

Do I still need to go for my smear test after vaccination?

The answer is most definitely “yes”.

While vaccination offers protection from the most frequently occurring HPV types that can cause cervical cancer [13] [14] , there are still some less frequent types of HPV that can cause the disease that are not covered by vaccination. It is also important to understand that vaccination does not protect you against any HPV infections you currently might have. Regular smear testing is therefore essential to detect possible early signs of pre-cancer in the cervix and enable you to get treatment before it develops[15] [16].

CERVICAL CANCER. BE SMART. THINK PREVENTION.
